Center for Family Life, a nationally-recognized social service program in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, seeks a Program Director to join our agency leadership team and to lead a staff of professional artists and youth workers in an after-school and summer camp program. Our ideal candidate has knowledge and experience in social group work and will bring a passion for neighborhood-based work to enrich the lives of youth, families, and community.

Program Director

JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Directly supervise PS 169 elementary school program serving 235 participants and their families in afterschool, summer day camp, counselor-in-training, and community events;
  • Design and implement staff training, conduct individual supervision of staff, and lead group meetings with primarily young adult staff;
  • Serve as principal liaison, representing the agency with Department of Education school staff and all public and private funders;
  • Collaborate with professional artists and all staff to design, implement, and evaluate literacy-enriched programming aligned to NYS Common Core learning standards;
  • Manage program budget and contract;
  • Track, review and analyze enrollment, attendance and outcome data;
  • Provide crisis intervention with onsite participants and make referrals, as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must have skills to lead educational, team-building, cultural or sports activities with groups of five to twelve year old children;
  • Must have a strong sensitivity to cultural differences present among staff and participants within our organization;
  • Must be detail-oriented and have excellent communication and organizational skills;
  • Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Mandarin/Cantonese preferred;
  • MSW or Masters’ Degree in related field preferred; BSW or BA in related field required;
  • At least five years experience working in a youth development and community-building program, with three years of supervisory experience;
